”COLLABORATION AND IMPROVEMENT”

Robert Bloomfield Academy, part of the Bedfordshire Schools Trust (BEST) was designated as a Teaching School on 1st April, 2012.  Central Bedfordshire Teaching School Partnership (CBTSP) as part of BEST, is a centre of excellence, committed to improving outcomes for all pupils. Since designation we have worked together with Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC), and have successfully delivered educational services to school across Central Beds and beyond.

The key strategic partners of the Teaching School are: Samuel Whitbread Academy; Etonbury Academy; Redborne Upper School; Stratton Upper School; Vandyke Upper School; Queensbury Upper School; Parkfields Middle; Raynsford Lower School; Fairfield Park Lower School; St Mary’s Lower School, Clophill; St Mary’s Lower School, Stotfold; Alban CofE Academy; the University of Bedfordshire; the Pilgrim Partnership; Bedfordshire Primary and Secondary SCITT Consortium and, CBC.

For over four years the Teaching School has carried out a wide range of educational services and continues to grow as an organisation. CPD on-line (www.centralbedscpd.co.uk ) continues to support every school within CBC and reaches beyond. During 2015/16 the number of courses and programmes available to colleagues was in excess of 230 across all phases. School to school support has been extensive; programmes such as ITP and AfA have had a substantial impact on Ofsted outcomes. For schools and academies within CBC our ‘Leadership Ladder’ provides a full leadership path for all levels of the profession. We have SLEs across a wide range of subjects, our School Direct programme together with the Primary and Secondary SCITT continue to recruit and show early favourable early employment rates. We have appointed 13 SLEs and in collaboration with The Acorn Teaching School will recruit further in 2016/17.

Overall Aims

CBTSP will:

  • Develop and deliver the school readiness partnership plan and give every child a good start in communication, language and literacy skills.
  • Actively promote health and well- being through a whole school approach
  • Narrow the gap and improve the achievement of vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people- especially those receiving Free School Meals and those who are looked after
  • Achieve top results in key stage tests, including GCSE (or equivalent) results including English and Maths
  • Train new teachers within the Partnership
  • Provide a structured Leadership training journey for staff
