BEST delivers initial teacher training through the Bedfordshire Schools’ Training Partnership.  The Bedfordshire Schools’ Training Partnership is an established, thriving, school based, teacher training provider.

Bedfordshire School’s Training Partnership have been offering secondary phase school based teacher training since 1996;  they now train between 50 and 60 trainee teachers each year on their PGCE and School Direct training programmes.  The primary training division opened in 2013 taking its first cohort of trainees in September 2014.  It is envisaged that between the secondary and primary phase they will train up to 100 trainees each year, with more than 99% of their Trainees going on to be employed within their partnership schools.

School centred initial teacher training is distinctive and allows schools to play an important role in training prospective teachers.  Through our partnership we are able to offer our schools as a teaching base and provide experienced and skilful members of staff to act as mentors for the trainees to support their training.  Developing Professional Practice sessions are held each week in the Conference facility located at BEST House.

Their PGCE provision is externally validated by The University of Hertfordshire to ensure consistency and quality and all of their training courses are subject to scrutiny by OFSTED, the NCTL and external examiners.
