Mr Evason became Principal of Etonbury Academy in October 2018, moving into his current position overseeing both Etonbury and Robert Bloomfield Academy this year.

He is moving on to take up a Principal role in Qatar.

We would like to thank him for his professionalism and dedication since joining the trust and we wish him the very best in his new role.

Dr Alan Lee, Chief Executive Officer of BEST, comments:

“Ian’s stated ambition when he joined Etonbury was to create ‘a school where every child can shine’. He has done this, nurturing a culture of excellence and attracting high calibre staff, passionate about their subjects and the young people they serve.

He has set the foundations for Etonbury Academy to continue to grow and flourish and, on behalf of the school community and BEST, I offer our sincere gratitude and wish him and his family every success and much happiness in the future.”

Ian Evason:

“It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to serve the Etonbury community.

I have enjoyed working alongside some wonderful colleagues and, although I am excited about the opportunity and adventure of working abroad, I will always have Etonbury in my heart.”

John Christopher, Chair of Governors at Etonbury Academy:

“Ian leaves a wonderful legacy and many fond memories of a dedicated, passionate and highly visible leader, who was never happier than when visiting lessons and working with students and staff.

I would like to thank Ian for his dedication and commitment throughout his five years at Etonbury.

A formal recruitment process is already under way and governors look forward to playing a key part in ensuring the right candidate is appointed to take Etonbury from strength to strength."
