BEST mindfulness features at Inspiring Leadership Conference

The Chief Executive Officer of BEST has taken to the international stage to share the impact mindfulness is having across our trust.

Dr Alan Lee gave a keynote speech at the Inspiring Leadership Conference, which attracted hundreds of leaders from the UK and around the world.

He shared the stage with Maggie Farrar on the first afternoon of the two-day event, as they spoke about leadership presence and the mindfulness journey BEST and our schools have been on since 2020.

Maggie’s career in education spans over 40 years and, as a mindfulness teacher and leader too, has worked closely with BEST as our external consultant on this pathway.

As well as sharing his own personal leadership story, Alan told delegates about the many different ways mindfulness was seeping into life in our schools.

He also led a settling practice on stage, encouraging those in the audience to discover the power of the pause.

After their presentation, Alan distributed copies of our special edition BEST Success Story, which documents the mindful pathway our trust has adopted, while Maggie signed copies of her book, Leading With Presence: It’s An Inside Job, in which BEST and our leaders feature heavily.

The Inspiring Leadership Conference took place at the ICC in Birmingham on June 8-9.

A number of BEST senior leaders and school principals were also in attendance to support Alan and Maggie, and to gain lots more inspiration from the esteemed line-up of guest speakers.
