At BEST, our School Improvement Team is the driving force behind our mission to “grow the BEST in everyone.” Working at the heart of our trust, the team inspires excellence in teaching and learning across our 11 schools and 5 nurseries, while also supporting partner schools throughout the locality. Led by our Director of Education, Alison Wilshaw, the team brings together experienced specialists who are passionate about helping every child achieve their full potential through outstanding education, care, and opportunity.

Through expert guidance, collaboration, and evidence-informed practice, we help schools turn ambition into impact. Our External School Improvement Partners also work closely with leaders to provide tailored support, strategic challenge, and robust quality assurance, ensuring school priorities lead to meaningful and lasting improvement. We also offer bespoke review packages, including Teaching and Learning Reviews, Pupil Premium Reviews, Ofsted Coaching, Instructional Coaching and subject audits, enabling schools to celebrate success, identify opportunities, and continue moving forward with confidence.

Professional development is at the core of everything we do. From supporting Early Career Teachers as they begin their journey to developing experienced leaders through advanced leadership pathways, chosen from our bespoke Leadership Ladder, we create opportunities for staff at every stage of their career to grow, thrive, and lead with confidence. 

Our impact extends far beyond our trust. Through strong partnerships, commissioned support, and the sharing of expertise, we contribute to a wider culture of educational excellence across the region.
